Technical Recruiter

Job Description

Applied Technology Associates (ATA) is looking for an experienced Technical Recruiter to join our HR team. We are a very dynamic and cutting-edge company with multiple locations. The Technical Recruiter position is responsible for sourcing, interviewing, and referring qualified applicants to hiring managers, primarily for technical/engineering positions, but also for clerical, administrative and management positions throughout the Company. The Technical Recruiter must be familiar with the various ATA technical and functional specialties. The candidate will possess considerable skill in identifying sources for technical candidates, interviewing techniques, and have an extensive knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment practices. Networking using multiple available tools and methods to source potential candidates and to promote ATA as an employer-of-choice is an important part of this role. You will be expected to build a strong tech-talent pipeline from which to capture the best and the brightest. You will be expected to perform various other HR tasks, as required.

Essential Functions: 

The Technical Recruiter will: 

  • - Bring an extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with recruiting systems and
     
      networks;

  • - Integrate best practices for the latest recruiting methods and channels;

  • - Manage the full recruiting life cycle process;

  • - Partner with all hiring managers to determine and to clearly understand staffing needs;

  • - Collect, review and post submitted job descriptions to ensure internal Company policies are
     
      followed;

  • - Source potential candidates using numerous social networks such as LinkedIn, etc., as well as,
     
      traditional resources, such as career fairs, online job fairs, community network
     
      events to identify and attract quality candidates;

  • - Leverage “Industry Specialists” and technical professional societies (such as SPIE, IEEE, etc.)
     
      to source qualified candidates;

  • - Work with job placement firms, when warranted;

  • - Screen resumes, pre-screen candidates (by phone or in person), administer reference/
     
      background checking, and make recommendations for hire (or not hire) to hiring managers;

  • - Coordinate, establish and participate in candidate interviews;

  • - Arrange candidate travel for interviews;

  • - Develop advertising programs (internal and external) to ensure high visibility with potential
     
      candidates;

  • - Develop and maintain an excellent relationship with internal and external clients to ensure
     
      achievement of staffing goals;

  • - Follow up with unselected and non-qualified candidates;

  • - Ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations, including affirmative action
     
      plan compliance;

  • - Manage current candidate activity in the applicant tracking system (ATS);

  • - Manage application/resume file and retention according to Company policy;

  • - Maintain memberships and affiliations with trade and professional organizations related to ATA’s
     
      various industry segments; and

  • - Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • - 5+ years of proven experience in all phases of technical recruiting

  • - Demonstrated recruiting experience with the full cross-section of engineering and physical
     
      sciences candidates

  • - Understanding of engineering and technical personnel requirements and characteristics

  • - Proven knowledge of candidate sourcing avenues such as social media, etc.

  • - Familiarity with Affirmative Action and EEO requirements and reporting

  • - Excellent verbal and written skills

  • - Clear understanding of labor law

  • - Must be a U.S. Person, and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Clearance

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • - Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline

  • - Experience working in Government Contracting, specifically in the Defense and Aerospace
     
      industries

  • - 10+ years of experience in Technical Recruiting

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are nominally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
 

Travel: 

Travel is primarily local during the business day, though some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
