Engineering Technician

Job Description

ATA is seeking an Engineering Technician for an Army Test and Evaluation contract. The Engineering Technician will assist with and perform highly skilled technical work in areas of installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and systems with a wide knowledge and high degree of proficiency to maintain Program schedule. The Engineering Technician will assist with the installation, maintenance, system upgrades, troubleshooting, replacement and repairs of all facilities, infrastructure, vehicles, new/existing equipment, and tools. Lastly, the Engineering Technician may be required to assist on other tasks as needed.

Essential Functions: 

  • - Assist with troubleshooting electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems that do require
       considerable judgment and final diagnostic

  • - Responsible for hand tools, electrical tools, volt/ohm and amp meters and other testing
      equipment, including transportation equipment and lifting equipment

  • - Minimum Demonstrated commitment to safety and a willingness to take personal responsibility
      when required

  • - Responsible for maintaining the work area in a safe and organized condition

  • - Responsible for filling out pre-use checklists for forklifts and other ordnance and material
      handling equipment

  • - Operates as a member of the team, but not as a lead

  • - Other duties as assigned


  • - Associate’s degree in Technology with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience; or

  • - Experience and familiarization in troubleshooting and repairs of electrical and electronic

  • - Technical Certificate from an accredited educational institution with a minimum of 4 years
      of combined experience working with electrical and mechanical systems; or

  • - One year of previous experience operating and maintaining industrial lifting equipment,
      forklifts, man-lifts, cranes and hoists

  • - Experience using at least one of the following troubleshooting aides: digital VOM, volt, ohm
      or amp meters

  • - Self-starter requiring minimum supervision and direction

  • - Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; although, an active Secret Clearance is

  • - Ability to climb and work at elevated heights of up to eighty feet

  • - Ability to interpret basic electrical schematics and blueprints

  • - Ability to understand basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • - Ability to lift up to a maximum 50 pounds

  • - Proficiency with computers and ability to work with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • - U.S. Citizen and able to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Primary Location:White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico
