RF Systems Engineer

Job Description

The Systems Engineer will work as a team contributor to AFRL Space Vehicle WSCE Program and provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) with respect to the development of high frequency RF (W/V) technologies as part of a larger demonstration that includes bi-directional communication. The Engineer will assist with the development of an in house expertise and W/V capability.

Essential Functions: 

  • - Systems Engineering analysis of requirements as part of a demonstration

  • - Develop specific metrics that will reliably test an operational system

  • - Provide guidance to customer on laboratory methods to test individual system components

  • - Take ownership and leadership of technical areas of responsibility and bring them to
      successful completion

  • - Ability to take top level needs/objectives and derive/develop an action plan for
      yourself and/or your team

  • - Program Management of the overall technical effort as it pertains to a final operational
      system and a demonstration

  • - Support Business Development activities, for example:

  • -- Support and/or lead customer interactions

  • -- Identify new opportunities with existing and/or new customers

  • -- Support the capture of new opportunities

  • -- Support proposals (e.g. lead sections involving technical area of responsibility, provide cost
      estimates, etc.)

  • - Represent ATA well with customers

  • - Perform all other duties as assigned

  • - Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering (Electrical, Computer System Software,
      Aerospace, etc.) from an accredited four-year university with more than five years of
      experience in Systems Engineering and Communications

  • - Proficiency with standard Systems Engineering tools

  • - Systems Engineering expertise

  • - Identification of required support equipment and infrastructure items

  • - Good organizational skills and ability to work independently, seeking support from
      team members when required

  • - All work is to be done in a laboratory environment

  • - U.S. Person able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance


  • - Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering with at least 5 years of
      Systems Engineering experience

  • - Current Secret DoD Clearance or higher

Primary Location: Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, NM
