System Engineer and Campaign Development Specialist

Job Description

Applied Technology Associates (ATA) is currently in need for a System Engineer and Campaign Development Specialist to support the design through test and business pursuit of precision pointing and tracking solutions for laser weapon systems, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, optical tracking systems, and various other adjunct applications. The successful applicant will be the lead system engineer responsible for leading an engineering team on all aspects of a laser weapon system development program, and responsible for pursuing adjunct applications that leverage ATA’s pointing and tracking solutions. The System Engineer and Campaign Development Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • - Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with
     
      Defining high energy laser weapon system requirements

  • - Leveraging system engineering best practices to lead the implementation of system design,
     
      development, integration, and test for ATA’s laser weapon subsystems and hardware/software
     
      configuration items

  • - Supporting and leading the architecture development and modeling of Key Performance
     
      Parameters (KPPs) that can track the allocated, current status, and projected values of
     
      critical Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs)

  • - Supporting and leading government and industry relationship building, partnership forming, and
     
      capturing business opportunities in the aerospace, defense, civil, commercial and
     
      international markets

  • - Contributing both to the technical and cost proposals in support of our growth initiatives in
     
      weapon systems, surveillance and reconnaissance, optical tracking systems, and various
     
      other adjunct applications

Required: 

  • - Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Math or related discipline,
     
      or equitable experience

  • - Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in design, development and field of precision
     
      pointing and tracking systems or related experience

  • - Must have experience fielding a pointing and tracking system and fielding a complex DoD
     
      system; experience overseeing activities related to comprehensive system design including
     
      reliability, safety, manufacturability, maintainability, and full conformance to environmental
     
      qualifications while meeting performance requirements

  • - Must have development experience for pertinent Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

  • - Must have a thorough understanding of platform integration, gimbal or beam director design,
     
      pointing or beam control design, weapon control design, system safety considerations, control
     
      system design, pointing and tracking system design, and pointing and tracking system
     
      ruggedness; detailed knowledge of detailed pointing and tracking systems to understand how
     
      changes in one part of a system impact the rest of the system; and system and subsystem
     
      activation, testing, and troubleshooting experience

  • - Experience with DOORs, SysML, MATLAB, ModelSim, or other computer aided engineering tool

  • - Experience leading technical teams of systems engineers, hardware engineers, and analysts

  • - Experience leading business development capture and proposal efforts

  • - Experience developing government and industry relationships, including international or
     
      commercial

  • - Experience developing a portfolio of business opportunities, with emphasis on international or
     
      commercial

  • - Experience leading international trade under Department of State (ITAR) or Department of
     
      Commerce regulations

  • - Possess a U.S. DoD SECRET clearance

Desired: 

  • - Master’s degree in Systems Engineering

  • - Experience as a Systems Architect of a fielded laser system and fielding a complex DoD system;
     
      experience overseeing activities related to comprehensive system design including reliability,
     
      safety, manufacturability, maintainability, and full conformance to environmental qualifications
     
      while meeting performance requirements

  • - Experience for laser weapon Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

  • - Design knowledge and development experience with aero-optical affects, thermal system design,
     
      and power system design as well as previous experience as System Architect during programs
     
      involving field testing or operational assessment of advanced laser weapon systems

  • - Experience writing proposals and authoring technical volumes

  • - Strong leadership presence and influence

  • - Experience establishing and maintaining working relationship with all levels of the organization,
     
      including customers, users, and other peer groups

  • - Domain expertise in military development and procurement programs, capabilities, etc.

  • - Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills and negotiation skills
