Electrical Engineer

Job Description

ATA is currently seeking a junior to mid-level electrical engineer to support multiple space instrument developments for a government customer as well as multiple programs within our organization. Application areas include electrostatic analyzers, proton-electron telescopes, VLF receivers, angular rate sensors, inertial measurement units (IMU), inertial reference units (IRU), and fast steering mirrors (FSM) for terrestrial, airborne, and space based systems. Electrical engineers at ATA support these programs in circuit design, simulation, test, and troubleshooting; printed circuit board design; cable and wiring diagrams; firmware design with VHDL; MATLAB/Simulink simulations; and manufacturing support/supervision. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate familiarity in several of these areas. Written and spoken communication skills are essential to work with managers and engineers from other disciplines.

Essential Functions: 

  • - Circuit Design

  • - Simulation

  • - Testing

  • - Troubleshooting

  • - Printed Circuit Board Design

  • - Cable and Wiring Diagrams

  • - Firmware Design with VHDL

  • - MATLAB/Simulink Simulations

  • - Manufacturing Support/Supervision

  • - Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university

  • - U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret-level security clearance
      (at minimum)

  • - Experience with typical lab equipment: oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, etc.

  • - Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits

  • - Ability to solder and fabricate or repair electrical circuits


  • - Current U.S. DoD Secret Clearance

  • - Experience with analog design to include transistors and op-amps

  • - Experience with DC-DC converter and power supply design

  • - Experience with FPGAs

  • - Experience with any SPICE software

  • - Experience with any schematic capture/PCB layout software

  • - Bench test and troubleshooting experience

  • - Experience with any printed circuit board layout software

  • - Experience with MATLAB/Simulink

  • - Experience with VHDL
