The engineer will become a team contributor to AFRL Space Vehicle Power group and will design, simulate, and test an electrical-optical sensor based on multijunction III-V solar cells and a direct energy transfer power type subsystem. The selected individual will support integration of conceptual elements of the sensor as a 1st generation brassboard. It is expected that a majority of the required hardware will consist of COTS modules and laboratory scale instrumentation. Some original design activity will be required to facilitate module interfacing and timing. Electrical engineer would provide support in circuit design, simulation, test, troubleshooting, printed circuit board design, and cable and wiring diagrams.

Essential Functions:

  • - Circuit design and related simulation of sensor constituents (SPICE or similar experience employing
multijunction solar cell strings is beneficial)

  • - Analog/digital signal filtering

  • - High frequency analysis and pulse counting of sensor signal stream using a combination of
      hardware and software processing tools

  • - Development of validation experiments, data collection and analysis

  • - Evaluation of sensor impact (if any) on balance of spacecraft power subsystem

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • - Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering (Electrical, Computer System Software, Aerospace, etc.)
from an accredited four-year university with more than five years of experience in data
      acquisition, signal processing and prototyping

  • - Proficiency with standard design tools such as simulation software, data analysis, schematic
      capture and printed-circuit-board layout

  • - Electrical circuit test and troubleshooting experience

  • - Identification of required support equipment and infrastructure items

  • - Good organizational skills and ability to work independently, seeking support from team members
      when required

  • - Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university with more than
5 years of experience in advanced circuit design, data acquisition and instrumentation
