Post-doctoral Semiconductor Modeling Scientist

Job Description

The successful applicant will serve as a part-time semiconductor modeling scientist for the Space Power Program. The scientist will be an integral member of a joint Government and contractor team that operates in a very dynamic environment. The scientist’s duties will focus on theoretical modeling of semiconductor device photonics and electrical performance, specifically for advanced photovoltaic devices. This effort advances the state of knowledge and maturity level for space power technologies relevant to current and future Air Force systems.

Additionally, the semiconductor modeling scientist may be required to assist on other tasks as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • - Theoretical modeling of semiconductor device photonics and electrical performance, specifically
     
      for advanced photovoltaic devices

  • - This effort advances the state of knowledge and maturity level for space power technologies
     
      relevant to current and future Air Force systems

Required Education/Skills: 

  • - Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering or Physics from an accredited
     
      four-year university, and a PhD in Physics

  • - Experience with research and development for energy generation for space applications

  • - Experience with advanced solar cell technologies

  • - Experience with materials modeling and materials characterization for advanced solar cells

  • - Require minimum oversight to accomplish directed tasks

  • - Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD clearance

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • - Doctoral-level research in Physics or Electrical Engineering

  • - Relevant post-degree experience

  • - Demonstrated ability to function and contribute to multi-disciplinary research teams
