Test Engineer

Job Description

The engineer will serve as a test engineer in support of an Air Force Research Laboratory contract. The engineer will be an integral member of a joint Government and contractor team that operates in a very dynamic environment. The engineer’s duties will include writing code in Simulink and/or LabVIEW to communicate with various hardware and sensors such as control moment gyros (CMGs), inertial measurement units (IMU), linear actuators, accelerometers, etcetera or optical systems. The engineer’s duties will also include conducting tests and analyzing test data to characterize the component-level performance for motors and a wide variety of sensors. Must have knowledge of control systems.

Required: 

  • - Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering (Systems and Control
     
      Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred) or Physics from an
     
      accredited four-year university

  • - Minimum of 5 years of Test Integration experience with an emphasis on characterization and
     
      integration

  • - Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse technical teams

  • - Ability to maintain accurate and complete project documentation

  • - Experience preparing and executing integration test procedures and supporting integration into a
     
      larger customer system architecture

  • - Experience working within a collaborative, distributed, team environment

  • - Ability to contribute to the development of new processes

  • - Experience ensuring proper setup, configuration, and functionality of systems being deployed

  • - Experience independently troubleshooting software and hardware issues to resolution

  • - MATLAB/Simulink and/or LabVIEW development skills

  • - Experience with control systems

  • - Require minimum oversight to accomplish directed tasks

  • - Ability to obtain and maintain a TS security clearance

Desired: 

  • - Current TS/SCI clearance or adjudication within the last 2 years

  • - Knowledge of Linux operating system

  • - Knowledge of FPGA-based embedded systems

  • - C++ programming skills

  • - Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems and Controls Engineer, Computer Engineering
     
      or Physics

  • - Experience with control systems

  • - Experience with large integration projects is highly desired

  • - Experience with Laboratory Optics including adaptive optics control

  • - Experience in business development and creating new program opportunities with new and existing
     
      customers

  • - Demonstrated leadership experience

Primary Location: Albuquerque, NM
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Travel: Yes, approximately 10% of the time
