Configuration Management Specialist and Project Management Assistant

Job Description

ATA Aerospace is currently searching for a qualified Configuration Management Specialist/Project Management Assistant. This position requires skills in document control, customer interactions, understanding requirements for developing end item data package, inventory control management, communicating with and guiding technical staff in proper documentation requirements, compiling reports for program management, and problem solving involving minimal supervision for space and flight hardware programs. Knowledge and familiarity with clean room and ESD requirements.

Essential Functions: 

  • - Applies initiative to manage all aspects of configuration management and document control

  • - Interacts with technical staff to support assembly, integration, test and manufacturing efforts

  • - Applies good judgment to ensure program quality assurance requirements are met

  • - Reviews all contract documents to ensure fulfillment of all customer requirements

  • - Defines requirements for end item data package, and compiles and verifies all data provided
      to customer in the end item data package

  • - Supports inventory control activities

  • - Provides direct customer communications and support

  • - Monitors program schedule to ensure timely completion of deliverables

  • - Provides direct support to and prepares reports for program manager

  • - Coordinates management and staff meetings

  • - Supports meetings, records meeting minutes, and ensures action items are completed


  • - Exercise discretion

  • - Detail oriented

  • - Exercise good judgment

  • - Excellent interpersonal skills

  • - Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • - Fluent in Microsoft Suite and related software

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work: 

Days and hours of work will vary due to contractual requirements.


Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require some off-site travel.


  • - Bachelor of Science and four years of experience or High School graduate and ten years of

  • - Demonstrated experience with configuration management and document control best practices

  • - Demonstrated experience with developing end item data packages for space and flight hardware

  • - Knowledge of quality assurance requirements, processes, and best practices

  • - Knowledge and experience with inventory control systems

  • - Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Department of Defense security clearance

  • - Demonstrated experience working directly with program management, engineering, assembly
      and test personnel to accomplish project outcomes

  • - Demonstrated experience in reviewing contract documents and developing contract
      documentation requirements, deliverables lists, and then tracking progress

  • - Demonstrated experience in scheduling and organizing meetings, recording meeting minutes,
      and developing reports for management

  • - Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • - Potential for supporting extended work week, as necessary

  • - Demonstrated track record of being a self-starter that works with minimal supervision


  • - Current U.S. DoD Clearance
