Technical Writer

Job Description

The successful candidate will be part of a fast paced dynamic team, responsible for final report writing for all task orders, partnering with engineering, setting deadlines, and being able to lead the charge in what you are responsible for.

Essential Functions: 

  • - Write or revise standardized material for final task order reports, briefs and other
      technical/administrative publications

  • - Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language

  • - Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples

  • - Create technical documentation for communicating scientific and engineering efforts

  • - Ensure technical verbiage is easily understood

  • - Prepare charts, graphs, or forms to go along with rough drafts

  • - Ensure fields flow in the correct sequence

  • - Write clear and concise policies and procedures

  • - Create table of contents and cite sources

  • - Submit copies to managers for feedback

  • - Adjust copy as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling

  • - Implement a document development life cycle

  • - Release the document following final approval

  • - Provide updates and different editions as necessary

  • - Other duties, as needed

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work: 

Days and hours of work will vary due to contractual requirements.


Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require some off-site travel.


  • - Degree in English or Technical Writing, or equitable experience

  • - Familiar with MS Office Suite

  • - Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Clearance

  • - Comfortable with and able to communicate effectively

  • - Possess the ability to complete and deliver required work, with minimal supervision

  • - Experience with MS Office Suite

  • - Experience with Government Contracting and the associated needs for technical writing


  • - Current U.S. DoD Clearance
