RF HW Engineer Intern

Job Description

The successful candidate will support the Space based Position Navigation and Timing Programs in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory. The successful candidate will be required to perform with an emphasis on Assembly, Integration, and Test of an in-house designed L-band receiver. The intern’s duties will span, building mockups, building actual receiver hardware with help/direction from senior engineers, testing components and sub-systems, preparation and conducting experiments, receiver maintenance and repair, and receiver calibration. The RF components to be integrated include both passive and active RF components. Coordination with other design engineers, particularly engineers that have designed and built the ground terminal that this receiver will be integrated into is expected.


  • - Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physics

  • - Experience performing laboratory and field testing including test planning, setup,
      data collection, and data analysis

  • - Experience with RF system fabrication

  • - Experience with RF analysis and test equipment

  • - Experience with MATLAB

  • - Proficient with Microsoft Office products

  • - Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security clearance


  • - Actively pursuing an advanced degree in Physics or Engineering

  • - Experience with transmitter and receiver technologies

  • - Experience with passive/active RF components and testing

  • - Knowledge/experience with S-parameter analysis

  • - Experience with LabVIEW and C++

  • - Ability to develop system link budgets
