Intern Radio Frequency (RF) Hardware (HW) Engineer
Job Description:
ATA-Aerospace is looking for an intern engineer to assist with RF hardware integration and testing for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) projects. The chosen intern engineer will be required to work in a team environment with direct contact to the AFRL customer. They will be required to be efficient in their ability to solve problems and answer questions proposed by the customer. The successful candidate will support multiple space based projects, emphasizing use of software defined radio(s) for multiple RF system development projects. The intern engineer’s duties will span supporting RF system design, particularly design of an SDR as part of a larger RF system, building actual transmitter/receiver hardware, and SDR software with help/direction from senior engineers, testing RF components and sub-systems, preparation and conducting experiments, and RF system calibration. The kinds of RF components to be integrated include but are not limited to waveguide, filters, attenuators, amplifiers and coax components. Coordination with other design engineers, particularly senior RF, and electrical engineers is expected.
Required:
-
- Pending Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physics, with RF emphasis; or equitable experience

- Experience performing laboratory and field testing including test planning, setup, data
collection, and data analysis -
- Experience with RF system fabrication
-
- Experience with RF analysis and test equipment (spectrum analyzer, VNA, etc.)

- Experience with MATLAB
-
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products

- Experience with software defined radios

- U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Clearance
Desired:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physics, with RF emphasis; or equitable experience

- Experience with L-Band and S-Band frequency components and testing

- Knowledge/experience with S-parameter analysis

- Ability to develop system link budgets

- LabVIEW experience

- Communication Forward Error Correction techniques

- Experience with digital cameras and interfacing to digital computers

- Experience with Position Navigation and Timing Theory and hardware

- Current U.S. DoD Clearance
